Who would? You could! Make it wood.
The question and answer in the headline is the basis for an online and TV advertising campaign that aims to tell people about the versatility, beauty and environmental benefits of responsibly sourced, certified wood.
In addition to being our only practical, large scale renewable building material, wood can also help tackle climate change in two ways.
The first is carbon storage, or sequestration. Up to 50% of the dry weight of wood is carbon, removed from the atmosphere and stored for life by a growing tree.
The second is through low embodied energy, that is the energy that is used during the process of harvesting or making and processing a product and transporting it to its place of use.
Adding these two together, you’ll find that wood is the only carbon negative (that is it stores more carbon than is emitted by using it) large scale building product.
Planet Ark created their Make It Wood - Do Your World Some Good campaign to encourage the increased use of responsibly sourced wood as a building and making material.
Make It Wood also supports the adoption Wood Encouragement Policies by councils and local and state governments.
